March 15 and 16, 2021 will be our 8th edition of the Digital Leadership Forum. Since we believe that business travel will continue to be difficult early 2021, we are planning a virtual edition. In October 2021 we are planning the 9th edition, which will most likely be a physical event in Vienna.
The coronavirus pandemic has changed the way we work around the world. We are working from home more than ever.
Employees have simply had to use new digital tools, whether they like it or not.
In this context, what is the role of the HR and the Internal communication teams?
How could we help employees make the most with these tools in order to increase efficiency and ensure productivity? How can that be achieved while keeping employees engaged and motivated?
And, in the future, how could we keep them using the new tools and avoid going back to old methods? How much remote working will be right?
These are some topics we will address in this session.
We're not there yet, but we are getting there. And what a journey it has been! Still is! Moving our employees from a file share focus to a cloud focus has not been without its difficulties. Similarly, handling meetings through Teams and making the best use of all the supporting functions that come with it, was not an easy sell. Working out loud was a little known concept at BSI. Until the beginning of 2020 when the world changed. Suddenly, our little team managed the most sought after tools and our adoption rates rocketed. This session will cover our journey to O365 before and after working from home became the norm.

We are very happy to welcome Ilga Leimanis at the Digital Leadership Forum again this year. Ilga joined us last year and gave a brilliant drawing workshop. This year's workshop will combine both, the skills already acquired by last year's participants and a starting point for those new to the world of drawing.
We know how technology is trying to find better solutions to keep employees connected with one another in an increasingly mobile world. What this is leading to is people connecting with each other more through devices and less in person. At least in my 15 years of work, many of which were spent in multi-manufacturing locations' companies, I have seen that this digital connect through the intranet is a mere 'semblance' of communication. Yes, it has replaced physical meetings with online deliberations. Yes, it does lead to information getting disseminated faster. But is it leading to employees really collaborating with each other? Really celebrating small victories at work? Really participating in office dialogues with mind, heart and spirit? Really consuming and understanding the information that is being sent? There was a time that necessitated physical to be replaced with digital. Is it now time that digital should help us get back into being more physical?
